The Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram Constituency, Mr Sam George has reiterated the words of General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.

According to the NDC MP in Parliament, the opposition party NDC will scrap the controversial e-levy tax bill hanging in the house.

The e-levy has become a central topic for discussion in Ghana since the Government through the Ministry of Finance proposed the electronic transaction tax during the last year’s budget for 2022.

Many Ghanaians have expressed their displeasure since the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, announced the government’s decision to introduce the electronic transaction levy.

Many have taken to social media to chastise the move and have described the policy to loot the average Ghanaian of the little income he makes.

Sam George made this revelation to journalists at the #Yentua demo organized by the NDC youth wig.

Earlier today, the Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has hit the streets of Accra to protest against the Electronic Transactions Levy (E-levy) being pushed by the government.

The opposition party members are also registering their displeasure against the government’s inability to resolve the ongoing University Teachers Association of Ghana strike that has lasted for about a month.

The aggrieved Ghanaians converged at the Obra Spot on Thursday morning clad in red and black outfits.

Members of the opposition party are holding placards with inscriptions such as ‘E-levy is a no brainer to economic recovery and we insist that Yentua’ and ‘Pay UTAG, students are suffering.’
