A few days ago, Mr Drew had his ‘Eat’ song deleted from popular video streaming platform, Youtube over copyright claims.
After garnering over 150,000 engagements on the video paying platform, “EAT” which had BET inductee (Stonebwoy) employed on it has been taken down on YouTube.
This video deletion was influenced by copyright claims filed by Rotimi of Power record label “EMPIRE” for being the legal owners of the piece.
The son was sampled from Rotimi’s “Love Riddims” a familiar single off his “Walk With Me” album released in July last year.
But, music lover and industry stakeholders are still wondering as whether who actually reported Mr Drew’s act to Rotimi’s management.
Now, the guy who is alleged to have reported the Highly Spiritual Music signee to Rotimi has granted his first-ever interview.
According to the guy who says he is a singer and songwriter, he contacted Rotimi via Instagram to report Mr. Drew’s song to him and within 40 minutes he replied that the video has been taken down.
He asserted that he actually prompted Mr Drew for his action on using someone’s intellectual property but he turned a deaf ear to it to the extent of blocking him, hence he had no option and choice than to report him to Rotimi.
He emphasized that, Mr Drew should rather thank him for reporting him to Rotimi because he could have been sued for his action.
