Missing Kid Found Dead

An 18-month-old child has been found dead under mysterious circumstances at Asonomaso, a community in the Afigya Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region.

The lifeless body of Kwaku Appiah, was discovered in an uncompleted building last Sunday morning with his head cut and concealed in a white polythene bag. Blood stains were reportedly found at the scene.

He was suspected to have been murdered; hours before the discovery of his body, Kwaku’s parents had reported him missing.

The death of the child has left residents terrified as they continue to seek answers about what could have triggered his untimely death.

Yaw Gabriel, father of the deceased, said at about 9:00pm on Saturday, he left the child in his room to attend nature’s call, but he could not find him when he returned.

His wife who was staying at a different place denied seeing the child when he called her to enquire if the child had gone to her.

At this point, the father said he became alarmed and quickly went to an information centre in the community to make an announcement.

Early Sunday morning, a search party led by the father found the child’s body covered with some dried leaves and hidden in a hole while his head was wrapped in a polythene bag.

At the scene, some sticks suspected to have been used to hit the deceased’s head several times were found with blood stains on them. Residents expressed shock and wondered why someone would kill such an innocent child.

“At the moment no one can tell if he was murdered for rituals or not. Only God knows the reason why Kwaku Appiah was killed,” a friend of the deceased father said tearfully.

No arrest has been made but Kwaku Atta, the deceased’s uncle, has vowed to use any means possible to arrest the culprits who committed this callous act.

Meanwhile, police at Asonomaso have launched investigations into the case as the body has been deposited at the Ramzi mortuary at Asonomaso Akwanta for autopsy.
