Embattled gold dealership firm, Menzgold Ghana Limited has asked Interpol to free its Chief Executive Officer, Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly known as NAM 1 to enable him mobilize for funds to settle customers back home as soon as possible.
The Head of Communications at Menzgold, Nii Amarh Amarteifio in an interview with Kasapa 102.5 FM said the company has enough funds to settle customers locked up investment, praying the Government of Ghana to cause Interpol to release NAM 1 in the interest of its customers.
Nana Appiah Mensah, won his court case in Dubai, yesterday.
Per the court’s ruling, the complainant has one month within which to make an appeal against the court’s ruling, however reports say he was recaptured by Interpol after he was acquitted and discharged by the court following the red alert issued by GoG for his arrest.
NAM 1 was arrested in Dubai sometime in December 2018 following a report to security authorities by a Dubai based company that he could be connected to an alleged botched gold business with a Ghanaian company, one of whose officials was known to him.
He is said to have landed in Dubai hoping to retrieve some $39 million owed Menzgold by the Dubai-based company, Horizon Royal Diamonds DMCC, for the supply of gold, but the complainant reportedly turned the case against him[NAM 1], hence the court action against the latter.
Speaking on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM, the company’s PRO, Nii Armah Amarteifio said the company has the ability to pay their debts, if NAM 1 is given the space to chase for cash owed them by their clients abroad both in Dubai, and Madrid .
For him, the $39 million owed Menzgold by the Dubai-based company could even cover about 60 percent of debts owed their customers in Ghana.
“…We need him[NAM 1] to be free to fight his case to get his money, because the bottomline is how to get the money to come and pay the customers. I feel sorry for our Customers, I’m well aware of their plight since August last year up till now; its not easy. so if there is a case like this and we’ve won and it’ll give him the chance to go and fight for his money, i think he should be free to go and fight for his money. we’ll have discussions with our CID to give the order for Interpol to release him so he can retrieve all his debts and pay back customers in Ghana.”
