“You Just Need An Award” – Mark Okraku slams Kelvyn Boy over inclusion of AFROBEATS in VGMA

In several interviews i have watched, from Hitz FM to Zylofon Fm, Kelvyn Boy in his quest to promote his T.I.M.E EP hasn’t stopped talking about the inclusion of the Afrobeat category in the VGMA Award scheme.

Stating his reasons, the Coffee singer hinted that Ghanaians own Afrobeats, a genre which according to the musician is a mixture of African rhythm, but have failed to recognize it.

However, the CEO of Slip Entertainment and President of the Creative Art Council, Mark Okraku Mantey has jabbed the singer over his demands and claims.

According to Mark Okraku Mantey, the ‘Nana Ama’ hitmaker is just fighting for his own interest and that he has no case in calling for Afrobeat to be added to the award scheme.

He added that apart from Kelyvn Boy and few other musicians, he is not aware of any other person doing Afrobeats in Ghana.

He further stated that Kelvyn Boy just wants to win an award which is why he is campaigning for that to happen.

The President of the Creative Arts Council also added that there is an Afropop category in the award scheme so adding Afrobeat is not in the right direction since they all mean the same.
