Joy News’ Manasseh Azure Awuni Resigns From Multimedia.
Award-winning Ghanaian journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni, has resigned from the Multimedia group following the brouhaha around his documentary on a secret security group in Ghana which became a trending topic on social media.
On June 1st, 2019, there were reports online which alerted us on the possible resignation of the journalist who felt he had been betrayed by Multimedia Group.
Recall, the Multimedia Group apologized to President Nana Akufo-Addo, when indeed, the station knew that most of the details in the documentary- ‘Militia in the heart of the nation’ which he worked on – were factual. He is alleged to have cited several other exposé he did on other notable figures, including former President John Dramani Mahama, and even though the personalities disagreed with his findings, there was no apologies issued to them.
Other sources explained that Manasseh felt the station that he had spent several years of his journalism life working for had not been loyal to him in this situation, hence his decision to part ways with them.
Manasseh Azure Awuni made the decision on his resignation known to the public in an emotional statement sighted on his official website, Manasseh wrote:
“I wish to announce my resignation from The Multimedia Group.
I thank management of company for the opportunity to work with what in my view is the most credible, influential, impactful and daring media organistion in Ghana.
I thank them for their support and encouragement all these years. It is no doubt that if I were to work again in a media house in Ghana, I would choose The Multimedia Group.
I also wish to thank all who have supported me in diverse ways since November 2012 when I joined The Multimedia Group. To the audience of The Multimedia Group and the sources who helped me in my work, I am eternally grateful.
I will continue to serve Ghana as a freelance investigative journalist and dedicate more time to the writing of books.
