Former President and flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended his campaign tour of the Ashanti Region following the death of the party’s founder and former president Jerry John Rawlings.
John Mahama, who was on a six-day campaign tour of the Ashanti Region made the announcement on Twitter earlier this afternoon, after the death of the former President was officially confirmed.
He said: “I have announced the suspension of my tour of the Ashanti Region and all NDC campaigns across the country, following news of the passing of our Founder and former President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings.
May his soul Rest In Peace”.
