I guess you’ve heard, read and seen photos of the viral Kumerica craze which has taken over social media trends and shown no sign of letting up any moment from now.
Kumerica began as a troll at the Asantes citing their “guy-guy” lifestyle. The whole craze began when beautiful photos of some parts of America were been compared to some parts of Kumasi.
It then graduated to comparisons of various celebs who are Asantes to Hollywood stars, Okomfo Anokye monument to the statue of liberty, the dollar to the Kumerica currency.
And other hilarious comparisons which has now become a force to be reckoned with.
As Kumerica began to garner massive attention on various social media platforms, some suburbs of Kumasi were been named after some cities/states in the U.S.
At the moment, Kumerica has now become a household name on the Ghanaian internet community and received endorsements from several prolific personalities.
Such as NPP’s Chairman Wontumi, business mogul popularly known as Zoro King, Shatta Wale, Archipalago and several other celebs.
The overlord of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is now the unofficial president of the United States Of Asante.
Kumerica branded T-shirts, sneakers, face towels etc are also been sold in the local markets and other leading shopping malls.
At the moment, Lord Kenya is the Kanye West of Kumerica, Kwame Wiafe on the hand is our very own Peter Dinklage, Ras Neene Kumerica’s version on Arnold Schwarzenegger etc.
Lest I forget, the Kumerica passport, the flag and National anthem also took the internet by storm as it was first of its kind and added more flavour to the whole trend.
