The Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA) has organized a town hall meeting and exhibition to update residents about the government projects and interventions completed over the past four years.

Dr. Samuel Okoe Amankwah, the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Chief Executive, highlighted that the meeting was in compliance with Section 2 of the Public Financial Act 2016 (Act 921) and Section 40 of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936). These sections require metropolitan, municipal, and district assemblies (MMDAs) to hold town hall meetings to share performance information and involve stakeholders in the Development Planning and Public Financial Management processes.

Dr. Amankwah explained that the assembly reported on completed and ongoing development projects in areas such as roads, education, security, and health within the municipality. For instance, the government has begun work on the 7.2 km dual Kpone-TOR road, with plans to asphalt a portion and cement the other. Additionally, roads, drainage systems, and mini bridges have been improved in various areas including Kpone enclave, Mlistakpo, Zenu, Oyibi, and Katamanso.

As part of efforts to enhance health services, the One-District-One-Hospital initiative has been implemented in the municipality, with modern equipment awaiting commissioning. Furthermore, a two-story health facility in Gbetseli and a Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound in Mlistakpo are nearing completion.

The KKMA has also commenced the reconstruction of the Kpone Market and lorry station to boost trade and income within communities. In terms of education, the assembly has completed classroom blocks in Kpone-Bawaleshie, Haana D/A school, a kindergarten block at Nii Oglie School in Mlistakpo, a six-classroom block in Naanoman, and an ongoing dormitory block at the Kpone Community Senior High School.

Dr. Amankwah acknowledged that while the achievements may not meet everyone’s expectations, the assembly is committed to completing its projects and urged stakeholders to support and intervene in enhancing educational infrastructure in the area.

“We hope to be given the mandate to continue and finish all the projects we have started and hope the community supports this course,” he added.
