2004 CAF Confederation Cup winner, Bernard Don Bortey has cleared the air on reports that alleged that the former had stolen a writ watch in Israel.
The one-time Black Stars winger’s career took a nose dive after he was alleged to have stolen a watch and an unspecified amount of money, which he deposited in Paintsil’s locker who was then a player for Israeli giants, Maccabi Tel Aviv.
The former Hearts of Oak star in an interview with Joy FM on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at the training grounds for Hearts Of Oak, debunked the reports over the alleged theft case and accused Paintsil of lying over the issue that heavily cost his career.
“I didn’t steal any watch in Israel; John Paintsil lied,” Don Bortey told Joy FM.
We recall that Bortey was lodging with Paintsil during his trial period in Israel. Clearing the air, he has accused the former West Ham right back of framing him.
He added that the behavior of Painstil is one of the reasons his career ended on a quick note.
