Multiple award-winning rapper and newly crowned VGMA 2019 Artist of the decade for his immense contribution to the music industry in Ghana, Michael Owusu Addo, best known as Sarkodie, has called on fans in series of tweets to desist from free downloads.
According to the rapper, its hurting to see fans of musicians patronize free downloads of songs rather than purchasing them.
He stated in series of tweets sighted by Gossips24.com, if a fan truly loves his artist, he/she wouldn’t mind spending few coins/bucks listening to the artists song.
The renowned rapper also added that artists know when to put out songs for free and stressed on the fact that there is nothing like free music.
The rapper who took the night to educate fans, also highlighted on how fans of artists are helping telcos (airtel, vodafone, mtn, tigo, and glo) in Ghana to make money but leave their favorite artists broke by buying data and downloading freely.
Rapper Sarkodie further advised music fans to desist from the behaviour of downloading songs for free and sign up to paid platforms where their artists put their music so they can also earn something from their works.
