Flag bearer of the NDC, the biggest opposition party in Ghana, John Dramani Mahama is claiming to have started the concepts of the NPP’s most talked about free SHS policy.

In the year 2016, prior to the presidential and parliamentary elections, Ghanaians could attest to the fact that the NPP strongly campaigned for the implementation of the free SHS policy which the NDC strongly campaigned against, claiming on several grounds that it was actually an impossible task.

But, Mahama has made a u-turn, he is actually saying the opposite of what he said in 2016. Though Mahama is credited for building infrastructures, no one can credit him for commencing the free SHS policy, aside himself.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration is trying its best to ensure that 1.2 million children are studying and being fed free of charge at the senior secondary level.

However, John Mahama, on his Speak Out tour made a stop over at Sienchem. Speaking at Sienchem in the Asutifi South Constituency, Mr. Mahama told the gathering that he started the Free SHS programme, claiming it was meant for day students.

He said, “Free SHS is good. If anyone stands anywhere and says that I, John Mahama, will cancel Free SHS tell the person he or she is a liar,” adding, “I haven’t said anywhere that when we come to power we are going to cancel the policy. We started it with day students and we were going to expand it when, unfortunately, we left office.”

Can you believe this lie?
