Renowned American-Senegalese musician turned entrepreneur, Akon has revealed he actually signed Sarkodie on his Konvict record label.
Akon at a press conference that came off at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra today admitted that he signed the BET ‘International Flow Artiste’ 2019, Sarkodie onto his record label, Konvict Music back in the day.
The award-winning musician confirmed the rumours on signing Africa’s top rapper and also revealed he signed the likes of P-Square and Wizkid.
According to him, the main priority of his record label over the years is to help project all the musicians they sign properly to the world while they work in the shadows and not milk them out of the money they get.
This latest revelation, however, contradicts the remark he made back in 2013 when he granted an interview to the Joy FM drivetime show which was hosted by Bola Ray at the time.
He was quoted to have said this in that interview: “That was one of our main goals. Sarkodie was supposed to be the artiste that we actually brought out of Ghana and we take him to the next level but unfortunately, we couldn’t get the deal together so the deal never closed”
Well, watch the video below in which he made the latest revelation:
