I nearly killed myself – Coach of Offinso accident victims

Coach of African Vision Academy based at Offinso, Augustine Mensah has narrated how he nearly killed himself after he lost eight of his players in a fatal accident.

Speaking to the media when the Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) Professor Peter Twumasi paid a visit to some of the victims of the accident, Augustine Mensah said “I was actually worried, I nearly took my life at the scene thinking of what the parent’s reaction will be.”

He added that despite the unfortunate, incident, he is not going to quit coaching

“In life there are set backs but if you ever faced one I don’t think you should let it swallow you up, Coach Augustine Mensah said to encourage himself.

Eight out of 24 players from the African Vision Soccer Academy died in the car crash after the minivan they were travelling in from a football registration exercise veered off the road and fell into the Offinso River.

Six players died on the spot whiles an additional two were confirmed later at the hospital.

Four of the late juvenile players were buried last week.
