Founding-father and current chairman of the major opposition party in Ghana (NDC), Flt Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, has openly disclosed that he voted for his wife (Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings) during the last general elections, Gossips24.com reports.
According to the former head of state, although John Mahama was on the ticket of his own political party (NDC) but he voted against him and in favour of his wife due to reasons best known to him.
As stated by the one-time military ruler, he’s not ashamed and per his assumptions, he did well for not voting for John Mahama who was on the ticket of the NDC party but rather for his wife who was an independent candidate.
Speaking in an on-air political dialogue with Accra-based Asaase Radio, Rawlings said he chose his wife over the party he founded in 2016.
I would like to make a confession, actually. Was it 2016, we went to the polls? I voted for her (Mrs Rawlings)
he said, as quoted by the Ghana Report.
However , Rawlings did not disclose whether he will vote for his wife, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings or John Mahama in the impending presidential elections.
