According to a former Chief of Staff under the administration of Rawlings, the former head of state’s life was attempted 77 times.
Jerry John Rawlings gathered for himself many enemies after she forcefully gained power, therefore it comes as no surprise that many people tried hard to get rid of him.
Nana Ato Dadzie, former Chief of Staff disclosed after the death of Rawlings that the number of times that people sought for his life amounted to 77.
He later added that the former president was mostly distant from his family because of the many threats on his life.
How he managed to survive all those attempts is still a mystery.
Rawlings was once arrested after a failed coup d’état and scheduled to die by shooting but was fortunately set free by some junior officers.
