Has AY Poyoo Faded Away Already?

Social media trends have become a new strategy of making oneself overly important within a specific period of time. With social media trends, whether you are poor, rich, jobless, relevant, irrelevant, or whatever, as soon as you get the needed attention, you just flow with it. The most important thing is to do anything weird for attention on Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok, or wherever.

Arguably, trending is one way of making yourself well known in any way possible via the aforementioned social media platforms. This is an avenue that has been explored by many African celebrities within the shortest possible time. Many have used any strategy at their disposal to make themselves recognized and relevant.

One such personality is “Mr. Eventuary” who suddenly rose to fame after making “weird” grammatical constructions (in fact, just gibberish) behind his wheels in taxis. He was first seen in a moving taxi as the driver and full of smiles whilst he spewed nonsense to his seemly confused spectators. As fate will have it, these videos were uploaded unto the social media circles and it became an instant ‘hit’.

Sometime back, one gentleman also found unprecedented fame for claiming to be richer than most well-known rich men in Africa and beyond such as Dangote, Steve Jobs, and Bill Gates.
Tactically speaking, Nigerians helped Shatta Bandle trend with their enormous tweets and posts in an attempt to run down his claim to be a rich young folk.

However, Shatta Bandle’s fame was cut short by Hon. Aponkye and Bosom P-Yung. But, there came another dude taking all the trends. The convener for the Poyoorians Movement – AY Poyoo is the man. Using ‘nonfa’ rap skills to confuse almost all African social media users, he goes by the watch word Face of GH rap.

Even though a certain Mr. Kwame Fordjour aka Dr. UN took over the airwaves some weeks ago with fake award schemes and also trended for a while, he is no more in the equation (as he’s probably in jail now for his countless fraudulent activities).

The summary of the matter is that; social media users are now thrilled with these crafty moves that people use to make themselves very famous overnight. As observers, we wonder where the next AY Poyoo may come from to cause traffic on all social media platforms since the trending radar is somewhat fading away from the Poyoorians.
