In the course of striving for reforms to be made in the Ghanaian music industry; rapper Ayibge Edem who seems to have an interest in this call for revolution have throwed in his weight as per his recent sentiments on music royalties.
In the course of an interview with Pulsegh, Ayibge Edem lamented on how poorly the Ghanaian music industry is structured therefore, making it difficult for performers both dead and alive to receive royalties made from their intellectual properties.
To sheer more light on his submissions; he cited deceased musician CASTRO as a primal case study of his prognosis.
We have a history of a tall list of artistes who have died broke and, we have all these records of artistes who have worked so hard but their families cannot reap; for example, CASTRO. I’m not sure his family us getting royalties from his music. We should know there’s a problem with the system ajd no matter how small an amount is given, we are saying there is more to be done and more can be done.
