Ghana to hold population and housing census in 2021

The much awaited population census has been drafted for next year following its postponements twice.

The census could not be carried out due to the pandemic this year.

Professor Samuel Koboina made a statement at a press conference in Accra on Wednesday saying the exercise will be carried alongside the demarcation of areas in Ghana.

The head of statistics of the Government pointed out that all relevant materials such as tablets, and books have already been purchased therefore it is beyond doubt that the exercise will indeed come on.

Trainings are also to be meted out in 4 levels he made clear, this will include master, national regional trainers and enumerator and supervisors.

Professor Kobina added that the availability of schools should help quicken the whole process and also by using available teachers as part of the exercise.

This upcoming census will surely see an increase in population since the current size of Ghana’s population stands at about 31 million according to statistics.

Professor Annim urged all citizens to participate in this nation wide exercise.
