Ghana Telecom University reportedly sacks students from exam hall for owing 8O pesewas

Information reaching YEN.com.gh suggest that authorities at the Ghana Telecom University College (GTUC) in Accra have prevented students of the school from writing exams because they owed amounts around 80 pesewas.

A Twitter user, ROG Majesty, shared the story with a screenshot of the debt on social media in the evening of Monday, April 15, 2019.

“Student prevented from writing exams because he was owing 80p in Ghana Technology University College @gtuconline at Tesano Abeka Junction along the Accra Nsawam road,” he wrote.

Not long after, an Instagram user who claims to be a student of the came with a confirmation.

In a private message to popular blogger Zionfelix who shared the conversation, the student revealed that a colleague was sacked from the exam hall because he owed 89 pesewas.

The student went to pay the debt but upon his return, he was prevented from entering the exam hall again because the 30 minute period allowed for him to be out of the exam hall had passed.

Interestingly, the student informant revealed that a student had to pay 200 cedis to resist a failed paper and by not writing, the student had failed by default.

YEN.com.gh cannot verify the claims made by these two social media users yet. But we are working trying our best to get a confirmation or otherwise.
