Fake Takoradi pregnant woman still in police custody as she fails to meet her bail conditions

Despite being granted bail, Josephine Panyin Mensah, the woman at the center of the alleged fake kidnapping and pregnancy case in Takoradi, is currently still in the custody of the Ghana Police Service.

On Monday, September 27, 2021, the Takoradi Habour Circuit Court A in the Western Region granted the accused GHS50,000 bail with two sureties following His Honour Michael Cudjoe Ampadu’s verdict.

The suspect, however, has not been able to meet the bail terms hence still under the police’s detention.

During the court ruling, she was accused of misleading police officials and instilling fear and terror in the public. She, on the other hand, pleaded not guilty to the accusations.

Despite police allegations to the contrary, she has admitted to faking the kidnapping and pregnancy.

Meanwhile, Philip Fiifi Buckman, the accused’s lead counsel, said the family is working behind the scenes to meet the bail requirements.
