Dr Ernest Addison gets re-appointed as Governor of the Bank of Ghana

Dr. Ernest Addison, whose tenure of office as Governor of the Bank of Ghana was set to end in March 2021 has been reappointed by President Akufo-Addo.

Dr. Addison who was Chief Economist at the Research Department of the West African Monetary Institute (WAMI) in Accra, Ghana became Governor of the Bank of Ghana shortly after former Governor Dr. Abdul Nashiru Issahaku.

The Mfantsipim School old student also happened to be a member of the Money Market Auction Committee, Editorial Committee and the Open Market Operations Committee. He also held the position of secretary to the Financial Programme Implementation Committee and the Financial Policies Committee.

The Authority of Heads of State of ECOWAS also set up Task Force set to undertake all the preparatory studies building up to the setting up of the West African Monetary Institute. Dr. Addison was the chairperson for this task force as well.

His reappointment which is set to last for a period of 4 years will come to an end in 2025.
