A 43-year-old surgeon has been fined for amputating the wrong leg of a patient who was supposed to be amputated in the left leg instead of the right.
According to reports, the doctor forgot that he was supposed to cut off the left leg of the man rather cut off the right only for him to realise that he had made a mistake.
The patient found out two days later after the surgical operation that his left leg has been amputated instead of his right leg.
The patient later complained and the doctor was fined an amount of €2,700(£2,296) after the court in Liniz found him guilty of gross negligence.
The sad aspect of the negligence was that the patient died after the surgery was done but the wife of the patient was given an amount of €5,000 in damages.
