The Communication Officer for the opposition NDC in Bono East, Mr. Kwadwo Adjei-Dwomo points out that, the burial of the party’s Bono East Deputy Regional Youth Organizer, Mr. Nsiah Kojo was peaceful.
According to Mr. Adjei-Dwomo, contrary to reports that there was a fight at the funeral of their late comrade, the funeral was rather peaceful and solemn. Speaking on Neat FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’, he indicated that, “The funeral was peaceful, and he is resting in peace.”
It was widely reported across various media platforms that, some persons purported to be supporters of the ruling NPP and their counterparts from the opposition NDC clashed during the burial of the late Nsiah Kojo who died in a gory accident on the Kintampo-Techiman road.
Per reports in the media, there was an announcement indicating that, some supporters of the NPP would like to have their pallbearers transport the casket containing the remains of the late Nsiah Kojo to the graveyard. This gesture, according to the local leadership of the NPP, was to strengthen the good relationship between the two parties, since the late Nsiah Kojo had relatives in the NPP.
However, per reports in the media, this gesture did not go down well with the supporters of the NDC present at the funeral held at the Kintampo Presby Park.
Even though the reports suggested that the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) Scout Group tried to intervene to take over the process of transporting the dead body so that peace would prevail, that was also rejected by the supporters of the NDC. This led to a scuffle between supporters of these two parties at the funeral which resulted in the exchange of blows.
However, Mr. Kwadwo Adjei-Dwomo insisted that, “there was no fight” despite video evidence circulating on social media.
