Dede Ayew Sends Message To Black Stars
ONE HALF OF THE Ayew Brothers, Andre Dede Ayew has spoken for the first time ever since Coach Kwesi Appiah named him as the captain of the Black Stars of Ghana.
The captainship title for the national team was given to Dede Ayew, Asamoah Gyan’s former role. The coach further made Asamoah Gyan General captain, a role which he initially rejected and subsequently resigned from the national team until he was invited by the president.
He has since rescinded on his decision and rejoined the team.
22 year old Dede Ayew has broken his silence after being made the skipper of Black Star.
According to him, being the captain doesn’t make him different from the other players, but they must be united to win the game ahead.
He noted football takes a whole team to win, unlike boxing and others games so they are all players with one mission, which is to be champions of the 2019 African Cup Of Nations.
Without players there is no captain, you become a captain because of players and because of the squad; football is not like boxing or tennis, you have to do your job and the job is to be done by the whole group,
Captain has nothing to do with seeing yourself as a different player, you are a football player, you are here to fight and go towards the goal if you are not able to go towards that goal, then you haven’t done anything,
My job is to unite everyone, to go to this tournament with a lot of determination with a fighting spirit and love; we are going to have 23 captains, we don’t win a trophy with one captain so we need everyone to take responsibility on the pitch and off the pitch,” he stated in an interview.he said.
