It appears our very own pallbearers ‘Dada Awu’ are not getting any cash from their viral memes. Aside from their funeral gigs, some online revenues seem to be going to the wrong people – a Chinese company.
Obviously, the Chinese are very good at making money with every single thing that surfaces online, and it is not surprising that they have such a booming economy with a lot of ‘fake products’ for a better word, imitations.
Over the past few weeks, the Ghanaian dancing pallbearing group labeled as ‘Dada Awu’ have become famous all over the world.
Their coffin dance has become the most popular meme of 2020 so far, making waves in France, Japan, India, Nigeria, and China.
Despite their popularity, it appears the pallbearers are not getting a penny from all the online monetizations that bear their faces, and on top of it all, their dance moves.
A Chinese company JMG 1/64 Miniatures, a figurines workshop based in Hong Kong, is now selling figurines based on the pallbearers.
There are two sets, one of them with all the pallbearers standing and the other one with four of them crawling carrying the coffin, mimicking their most popular dance moves.

The figurines are selling for $49 for the first set and $40 for the second set. They can be ordered online with the company offering to ship even outside China.
If I were the pallbearers, this would be the time to start thinking of retaining a lawyer.
