Black Stars of Ghana Can Win AFCON 2019 – According to History

History they say often repeats itself, and after today’s draw with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, many Ghanaians have resorted to nothing but words of encouragement with history being the only thing football lovers and fans of the Black Stars of Ghana are holding on to.

According to history, in the year 1982, which was the last AFCON glory for the national soccer team of Ghana, found itself in a similar position and performance at the early stages of the tournament.

In 1982, Ghana found itself in Group A with the likes of Libya, Tunisia, and Cameroon. Ghana’s first game with Libya ended in a 2-2 draw whereas their second game with Cameroon ended in a goalless draw.

Fast forward, Ghana qualified from Group A placing second to Libya. The Black Stars went forth from a poor start to a good finish, wining their fourth championship, beating Libya on penalty kicks 7−6 after a 1−1 draw.

Well, many have hinted that this could happen in 2019 after 37 years of failing to win the trophy.

In 2019, Ghana finds itself in group F, with the likes of Benin, Guinea-Bissau and Cameroon.

As we all know, in this year’s campaign, Ghana played their first Game against Benin which ended 2-2 draw, and their second against Cameroon, which ended in a goalless draw just as it did in 1982.

With the same events repeating itself, most Ghanaians have held on to the believe that history, might indeed repeat itself this time around.
