HAILED the Baby Jet, Ghana’s most celebrated footballer, Asamoah Gyan, today made his intentions of retiring from National Football known to the public.

As we awaited his return to play for the Ghana Blackstars, we were rather hit by the sad news of his retirement.

In a statement signed by the Black Stars captain, he will from today 20th May 2019 recuse himself from the 2019 AFCON and retire from the National Team.

Gyan who joined the Black Stars in 2003 pointed out the challenges he has faced as the captain of the National Team and how Ghanaians are paying him back.

According to Asamoah Gyan if the captaincy of the AFCON 2019 would be given to someone whiles his name is in the team for the tournament, then he will not be part of the tournament and the national team as a whole.

But hey, here is one thing that Ghanaians can never forget about Asamoah Gyan as he retires today.

In 2010, Asamoah Gyan, Ghana’s promising striker had the chance to aid Ghana in qualifying to the Semi Finals of the World Cup tournament but he managed to miss a penalty, and this is a memory we want to share with our readers.
