Who is Black Sherif ?

Within just a year, Mohammed Ismail Sherif who performs under the stage name Black Sherif has enviably progressed from being a viral internet sensation to one of the country’s hottest promising acts.

He attained such feat by fusing our indigenous Highlife with Trap music, making him very unique in the music industry both locally and globally.

Early Life

Mohammed Ismail Serif, also known as Black Sherif, is a Konongo native who was born on born on 9th January 2002. His parents’ names has been kept away from the public domain for reasons best known to him

Black Sherif is his stage name which simply means “high born African.”

According to him, in Islam, Sherif denotes someone noble or highborn, while Black denotes African descent. He is also sometimes being referred to as ‘Blacko” with reference to his shinning dark sikn.

He is the 3rd born out of the 5 children of his parents. Black Sherif spent most of his childhood days in Konongo Zongo where he was raised.

Education

Black Sherif is currently pursuing a marketing programme at the University of Professional Studies (UPSA).

He had his high school Education at Kumasi Academy which he completed in 2019. Both his primary and JHS education were harvested in one of the big schools in Konongo.

Music Career

The rising sensation began his career as a dancer before switching to music in Kumasi Academy where he has his secondary education

In 2019, he dropped his first single dubbed Cry for me but unfortunately, it failed to penetrate into the mainstream media.

In 2020, he released another single titled Money which became a national banger. 2021 was his breakthrough year after he caught the attention of music heayweights such Sarkodie, Yaa Pono, Hammer of the last two and a host of others after dropping a hot freestyle on Twitter

His freestyle dubbed “First Sermon” a smash hit and later made him the star he is at the moment. He subsequently dropped second sermon which made wonders on the various music platforms just days after its premiere.

During an exclusive interview on Kumasi-based radio station Pure FM on the ‘Pure Drive’ show hosted by Koo Sebor, the Konongo rapper revealed that his ‘Second Sermon’ song talks about the life he chose to live on the street against the advice from her mother.

Discography

Black Sherif has under his belt over 50 singles and notably amongst them are (First & Second Sermon, Ade Akye etc).

At the moment, he hasn’t dropped any EP or Album but we are certain he will be unveiling any of such projects very soon.

As a budding rapper with just a year in the music industry, Blacko hasn’t bagged any huge nomination or award from the various recognized awards schemes.

Black Sherif is believed to be worth around $10,000. He is one sports car and doesn’t own a house yet.
