Asamoah Gyan Is A Good Player, But I Am The Coach & I Choose Who I Need – Coach Kwesi Appiah

Ghanaians have called out Black Stars of Ghana Coach, James Kwesi Appiah for failing to feature his general captain Asamoah Gyan in the early stages of the game between Ghana and Cameroon.

In Ghana’s first game against Benin which ended in a 2-2 draw, Coach Kwesi Appiah left out the former skipper of the side to warm the bench.

After receiving lots of bashes, many thought Coach James Kwesi Appiah will have a change in mind and feature him, but unfortunately, his first eleven for the game (Ghana vs Cameroon) excluded Asamoah Gyan.

Making amends, Kwesi Appiah expected a magic and decided to bring on Asamoah Gyan in the 77th minute of the Game (13mins to the end of the game).

The introduction of Asamoah Gyan brought the dying game back to life with Ghana making and missing clear opportunities. Gyan’s 16mins play on the field has given Ghanaians the urge to lash Coach Kwesi Appiah for introducing him in the late hours of the game.

However, Kwesi Appiah thinks otherwise. In a post match conference, he stated that he doesn’t challenge the fact that Gyan is a good player, but he is the coach and decides who to feature.

He added that he is the only one who decides who plays. Check an excerpt from the post match conference below.
