A confirmed report coming in from Ekiti discloses the death of a police officer who lost his life in the line of duty during a gun exchange fight between the security unit and some armed robbers.
According to the Ekiti State Polie spokesperson, Mr Sunday Abutu, the incident occurred around 2 pm in the afternoon.
Whiles speaking with the media on this case, Mr Sunday also added that the armed robbers stormed the Otun bank and initially succeeded in breaking the bank security door before their mission was destroyed by a combined team of police, military, and local security outfits.
This led to a shootout and death of the policeman as the robbers escaped on foot. Abutu stated that perpetrators of the crime will be tracked and arrested.
