The Akufo Addo-led government decided to run to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a bailout because of the drastic failure in the Ghanaian economy due to COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war.
A lot of people shared their opinions upon hearing what this government intends to do, despite critising the previous government for running to the IMF for a bailout.
However, on Okay FM’s ‘Ade Akye Abia’ programme, the general secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia better known as General Mosquito said that anyone who can defend the decisions of the NPP now is capable of defending Satan in heaven.
He said:
Ghana got significant assistance from the World Bank and other kind organizations during the COVID-19 epidemic. Therefore, I find it ludicrous to hear people claim that COVID-19 and the Ukraine-Russia war are to blame for the country’s weak economic performance.
“Anyone who can support NPP’s choice to approach the IMF for a bailout with this puzzling argument can defend Satan in Heaven.”
“The Finance Minister has run out of ideas, and based on the way he is doing things right now, you will need a fresh perspective to oversee the nation’s finances and be able to revive the economy.”
