After being trolled massively by Ghanaians for lying about some funds she had secured from the World Bank to Build a Community Senior High School in the Dome-Kwabenya constituency, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo has offered an explanation into what really happened.
According to her in an interview with UTV, she got some links to the World Bank while attending school at the George Washington University which was only two blocks away from the World Bank Office.
She mentioned that she played some important roles to ensure that the building of the school, which was part of former President John Mahama’s Community Day Schools project, came into her constituency.
“if the government of the day receives funding for a project, and they don’t get land where are they going to put up the project? Letters went back and forth which showed that we secured that land from Atomic Energy Commission.”
“That’s is why I said I was sure I also influenced the released of funds. I knew that money was coming. If you’re part of something good, you have to let people know…So as far as my constituents are concerned, they know the school came during my term. When the controversy began, I saw it as a bit petty on the side on government, honestly,” She said.
Hon. Sarah Safo has described the trolls, which happened in 2017, that she received as a mere petty propaganda that was intended to create some dislike for her.
Explaining what the trolls were really about, she said;
“The propaganda that was being made wasn’t that I said I built the school, it was because and of course with where I’ve lived and schooled, George Washington University. It’s just one block away from the World Bank. I know there and I’ve worked there before.”
