7 pregnant women test positive for coronavirus in Ghana

Reports sighted by Gossips24.com on YEN.com.gh suggests that not less than seven pregnant women in Ghana have tested positive for the coronavirus also known as the COVID-19.

The Chairman for Coalition of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) on Health, Dr. Gabriel Benaku, stated that he fears the disease could have an adverse effect on the newborn babies as well.

Dr Benaku made this known while speaking in an interview on TV3’s Midday Live Tuesday, April 28, 2020.

“We already have spotted 7 pregnant women who are infected with covid-19,” he said.

Dr. Benaku is, however, calling on all and sundry, to rally behind government to help in finding a cure or vaccine to this disease. He called on the government to walk the talk and not just show interest in developing a vaccine for the disease by supporting Ghanaians who have been trying hard to find a cure.

“Government should invest into vaccine production locally so we can use our integrated approach,” he said, in solving cases of COVID-19, added.
