Your Online Petition To Prosecute Nyantakyi Needless – Baako Tells Anas

Editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has described as needless, an online petition initiated by his own protege, Investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas to get former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Nyantakyi prosecuted.

According to him, he would have advised Anas’ against the petition if he had prior knowledge of it.

Ace Undercover journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas last week began an online petition to pile pressure on the Attorney General, Gloria Akufo to prosecute Mr Nyantakyi as several months after his undercover Number 12 exposé was premiered, no proper action has been taken against the former GFA Boss by the government of Ghana.

Nyantakyi who was captured in the Number 12 exposé engaging in some alleged shady deals had already been banned for life by the world football governing body, FIFA.

Anas believes, the online petition will compel the appropriate authorities to make the man who was once a member on CAF’s Executive Committee to face the criminal charges he deserves.

Anas in a writeup on the online petition platform expressed shock that the Attorney General has failed to take up the matter despite the circumstantial evidence that compelled FIFA to ban Nyantakyi.

But commenting on the development on News File show on Saturday, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako stated that the online petition by Anas could have been shelved.

“I’ve raised the same matter with him and I’m being very candid if I’d had prior notice there’ll be this online petition I would have advised against it and I’ve told him that…It is a reflection of certain frustration within Tiger Eye that the process is slow paced not much is going on, so they reacted that way.

Sentimentally I understand them but strictly speaking, I think that particularly online could have been shelved. I’ve told in private I’m sure he wouldn’t mind me saying so publicly.”

He added: “In terms of prosecution the AG’s department and Anas have been working together and as indicated there the day Ahmed was assassinated callously by unknown assassins he had just finished a meeting with the AG’s office over a period of time so they are allies in one corner, that is where the focus should be and I can say on authority too that whatever the AG’s office needs have been delivered. That I’m clear in my mind.”
