Videos of military beating civilians amidst lockdown are fake, disregard them – Brigadier General of Ghana Armed Forces

The brigadier general of the Ghana Armed Forces, Brigadier Nsiah, has reacted to the viral videos of Ghanaian soldiers brutalising civilians to enforce lockdown.

According to Brigadier General Nsiah, the videos which have gone viral have been put together to put the army in a bad light. He added that the soldiers who have assigned to various posts are professionals hence are not going to brutalise anyone.

He goes on to say since the lockdown commenced it’s only one soldier out of a thousand who has misbehaved and according to him, that soldier has been sent back to the barracks for further investigation.

I must also emphasize that some videos that have gone viral concerning brutalities metered out by soldiers to some civilians.. let me assure my fellow Ghanaians that the soldiers that you have are well trained, they are professionals, they don’t brutalize.”

We have deployed close to a thousand soldiers.. out of this number we have had one incident and that incident had nothing to do with slapping, it is something that we thought is not of our standard.. that soldier has been withdrawn back to the barracks

“All the videos you are seeing are false, I don’t know the intentions behind it“, Brigadier Nsiah said at the Press Briefing.

He also added that as religious as Ghanaians are, we should all know that God hates lying hence should desist from painting the military in black.

He asked Ghanaians to support the soldiers in the field and encourage the military to do their job.
