US forces’ rescue operation was not a violation of Nigeria’s sovereignty — Defence minister, Bashir Magashi

Major General Bashir Magashi (rtd.), the Minister of Defence for Nigeria,  has stated that the recent rescue operation carried out by the United States special forces on Nigerian soil was not a violation of the country’s sovereignty.

If you ould recall the United States Special Military Force successfully rescued an American citizen kidnapped by bandits in the northern part of Nigeria on Saturday, October 31.

Speaking after defending his Ministry’s budget at the Senate on Tuesday, November 3, the Minister disclosed that permission was granted to the United States “as a friendly country” after the Nigerian government was contacted.

Expressing hope of Nigeria exploring a current partnership with the United States to handle insurgency in Nigeria, Major General Bashir Magashi (rtd.) further revealed that they are giving a valiant effort with what is accessible to send satisfactory innovation in military activities.
