The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards formerly known as Ghana Music Awards is organize by Charterhouse productions in 2000 to celebrate Ghanaian musicians in all diverse of music.
The awards are presented annually. Some Ghanaian musicians with most VGMA awards include; Daddy Lumba, Okyeame Kwame, Kwame Eugene, Kwaw Kese, Sarkodie, a few to mention.

SARKODIE VGMA AWARDS
Owusu Addo Michael is professionally known as Sarkodie. The Ghanaian rapper was born on July 10, 1988.
He was announced the first winner of BET’s best international flow artist at the 2019 BET hip hop awards. Michael Owusu Addo is one of the most successful African rappers of all time. He has won 26 awards out of 70 nominations. Sarkodie was the artist of the years 2010 and 2012.
KOFI KINAATA VGMA AWARDS
Martin King Arthur popularly known as Kofi Kinaata is a Ghanaian musician and songwriter from Takoradi. He is noted for his Fante rap and freestyle and is therefore known as the Fante Rap God.
Apart from his rap prowess, Kofi Kinaata has grown into a very good singer taking the highlife genre by storm. Martin King Arthur has won 10 VGMA awards.
OKYEAME KWAME VGMA AWARDS
Kwame Nsiah- Apau born on April 17, 1976, known by his stage name Okyeame Kwame and nicknames the rap doctor is a Ghanaian musician, songwriter, creative director, and entrepreneur.
Okyeame Kwame has won 10 VGMA awards and was entitled the artiste of the year in 2009.
R2BEES VGMA AWARDS
Faisal Hakeem (Omar Sterling) and Rashid Mugeez are cousins and Ghanaian hip hop artists who are known as R2bees.
They were nominated at the 2013 BET awards and entitled with 9 VGMA awards.
KWAME EUGENE VGMA AWARDS
Eugene Kwame Marfo known by his stage name Kwame Eugene is a 24-year-old Ghanaian highlife musician and afrobeat singer and songwriter. 24 year Eugene was a contestant in season 5 of the reality show MTN hitmaker in 2016, where he was the second runner up after the end of the season. He was shortly signed to Lynx entertainment.
His song “Angela” in 2017, reached one million views on Youtube. He has 9 awards and was the artist of the year in 2020 VGMA.
Legendary highlife artist Amakye Dede crowned Kwame Eugene as his successor in highlife music at the 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
VIP VGMA AWARDS
VIP (vision in progress) now known as VVIP is a Ghanaian hiplife music group made up of Zeal formerly known as Lazzy ( Abdul Hamid Ibrahim), Prodigal (Joseph Nana Ofori) and Reggie Rockstone(Reginald Ossei) all from Nima.
VVIP has won 8 awards between the year 1997 to 2016. They were the artist of the year 2011.
KIDI VGMA AWARDS
Dennis Nana Dwamena better known as Kidi is a Ghanaian highlife and afrobeat singer, songwriter and producer. He is signed to Lynx Entertainment, Made in ENY Empire and is best known for his hit single “Odo”. The remix features Nigerian superstars Mayorkun and Davido and has received massive airplay across Africa.
Kidi won the highlife song of the year for his hit song “Odo” at the 2018 Ghana Music Awards. His “say cheese” blue EP was a massive hit during the Covid19 season. Kidi has won 6 VGMA awards.
SAMINI VGMA AWARDS
Emmanuel Andrews Samini born on December 22, 1981, is a Ghanaian Reggae and dancehall artist.
Samini has won 6 VGMA awards out of 7 nominations between the year 2005 to 2021. He has also crowned the artist of the year in 2007.
With the 6 awards, Samimi comes at number 8 on our list of top 10 Ghanaian musicians with the most VGMA awards.
STONEBWOY VGMA AWARDS
Livingstone Etse Satekle popularly known as Stonebwoy is a Ghanaian afro-pop, dancehall and reggae musician.
He won the Best International Act: Africa category of the 2015 BET awards. He is known for hit songs like Enkulenu, Run go, Kpoo K3k3 among others.
With 6 VGMA awards, he sits at number 9 on our list of top 10 Ghanaian musicians with the most VGMA awards.
KWAW KESE VGMA AWARDS
Emmanuel Kofi Botchway known as Kwaw Kese is a Ghanaian hiplife artist. He is well known for his hit album in 2007.
He won 5 awards in the 2008 edition of VGMA. He was also crowned the artist of the year in 2008. Surprisingly, Kwaw Kese has 5 VGMA awards living him at the bottom of our list of top 10 Ghanaian musicians with the most VGMA awards.
