Burniton Music Group (BMG), a talent management hub of multiple award-winning Reggae/Ragga & Dance-hall artiste, Stonebwoy hosted “Stonebwoy Meet The Press” session, which is part of the mechanism arrayed to officially disseminate articulate information and answer questions from the media regarding the latter’s 2020 music agenda and to foster positive news on the continent.
The press conference also aimed at deepening the brand’s ties with the media and share its forecast/prospects of the year for Ghana’s globally respected and Reggae/Ragga & Dance-hall luminary, Stonebwoy in this month of love and one that significantly commemorates Black History. The discussions included, but was not be limited to Stonebwoy’s set-to-be-released Album, Grand Opening of the Bhim Shop and his North American Tour.
The conference which was staged at the Golden Tulip Hotel (Accra) Conference Hall commenced at 11am and garnered the presence of notable Ghanaian dignitaries, including Thomas O. Mensah (a Ghanaian-American chemical engineer and inventor, who contributed to the development of fiber optics and nanotechnology), George Quaye (C.E.O of Image Bureau and former Communications Officer at Charter House), Sadiq Abu Abdulai (C.E.O of 3 Music Awards) and illustrious practicing media personalities across Africa
Speaking on the issue of his yet to be released album, privately christened Livingstone Etse Satekla revealed that, the project has been curated and tailored to suit every region on the continent. According to him, the album’s been recorded in three genres, thus Reggae/Ragga (Jamaican Caribbean), Dance-hall (Caribbean, Jamaica, urban African society) and Afro-beats (UK, America and Africa).
The 15 track-list project will see the multiple awards-winning Ghanaian born musician performing most of the songs in his local dialect, thus the Ewe Language (representing his Volta Region), and other Ghanaian languages, including Twi and Ga spiced up with his comfortable language (Jamaican Patois). This dimension has the objective of uniting the sound that is already produced in music space. He defended his musical prowess and vocal dexterity on this project (name withheld) which is scheduled for 5th March, 2020.
Explaining the motive behind establishing the “Buy Bhim” Merchandise (the official apparel or goods produced by Burniton Music Group, BMG), the Nickelodeon Kids Choice awards winner disclosed that, he decided to open a shop to represent the brand and also leave something significant, and authentic to his numerous fans who can’t really get a direct access to him. The Buy Bhim outlet is located in Ashaiman, right after the overpass that links Ashaiman to Tema. Proceeds from the shop will be used to fund the Livingstone Foundation.
Musical tour is nothing new to Stonebwoy as his been all over the world within the last decade exhibiting his craft, and delivering overwhelming performances have always been his hallmark. Earlier, BMG announced series of tours to be hosted by their artiste in UK, America and a possible Africa Tour, speaking on this development, Stonebwoy stated that, these tours are part of the well-orchestrated plans to help promote his forthcoming project and some other strategies that will see the project reach it best height.
On the issue of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) ban, Stonebwoy stated that, the decision taken by the organizers of the show to omit Shatta Wale and him over a brawl that transpired few months back has never affected his creative skills, but rather an incident that has elevated his craft to a more deserving audience. He explained that, music practically is older than any award scheme, including the VGMAs, adding that, award schemes have less power in building an artiste, because artistes go the extreme to gain recognition from these award schemes.
Debunking rumors regarding Wisdom Edward Dotsi as his manager, the 2015 BET Best African Act stated that, the former is not the person responsible for controlling or administering his craft, organization or group of staff. Revealing his role at the firm, Stonebwoy stated that, Wisdom Edward Dotsi is his Personal Assistant (PA) who works with senior staff to provide one-to-one support with the objective of elevating the BHIM Brand.
Detailing the duties and contributions from his former road manager Blakk Sidi, the 3 times (2015, 2018, 2019) AFRIMA Reggae/Ragga & Dance-hall Artiste of the Year award-winner stated that, the former who was demoted to the position of an agent at the firm is no longer and officially part of the Burniton Music Group, as he’s practically contributed nothing to the brand after assuming that position.
The Dance-hall artiste earlier revealed that, his longtime friend and working partner, was no longer his manager. According to him, the decision was part of structural amendments that have been made at his Burniton Music Group label. Per the new adjustments, Blakk Cedi was now an agent for Stonebwoy.
However, touching on the issue of winner of the Seventh issue of MTN Hitmaker (a music reality show that unearths talents), O.V., Stonebwoy revealed and emphatically stated that, the female Dance-hall and Afro-beats musician is no longer part of the Burniton Music Group record label, this is a result of the structural amendments that were thoroughly carried out by the directors and board of the firm.
The press conference was generally led by the company’s executive management or a press liaison or communications officer and was sponsored by Big Boss Drink, a newly outdoored energy drink owned by Stonebwoy but produced by Bel-Beverages, producers of Bel-Aqua and Bel-Drinks.
