Sidechick Busted After Trying To Dump Her Lover’s Corpse Inside Bush

In a shocking turn of events,the police in Ogun have arrested a woman, Aderonke Ayinde, who was allegedly caught dumping the corpse of her lover, Asimiu Abiodun, in the bush.

Ogun police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the 45-year-old was caught in the act by a neighbour, Makinde Ishola. Abiodun was said to have died in the middle of the night at the suspect’s residence at No. 1 Asalu Compound, Abeokuta.

Oyeyemi said, “The arrest of the suspect followed a report lodged in the Oke-Itoku Police Station by one Makinde Ishola, who reported that he received information that a middle-aged man, whose name was later known as Asimiu Abiodun, came to visit the suspect at her No. 1 Asalu Compound, Abeokuta residence. “The said man died in the middle of the night in questionable circumstances. He (Ishola) stated further that the suspect took the dead body to a nearby bush that night and dumped it there, unknown to her that somebody nearby was observing the whole thing.” Upon interrogation, the suspect claimed that the deceased was her long time lover, who used to pass the night in her place, but on that fateful day, he came as usual, but suddenly developed a strange illness in the night and before she could call for help, the man died. She further stated that she decided to dispose of the body out of fear,” Abimbola added.

The spokesperson also said the deceased’s family has been contacted by the police for identification while the corpse has been evacuated in the mortuary for autopsy. Ogun police commissioner, Ahmed Iliyasu, has directed the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department to take over the case, Oyeyemi said.

It would be recalled that Police in Lagos State arrested a 28-year-old security man, Haruna Abubakar, for killing his colleague, cutting the body into pieces, bagging and dumping same in the bush. According to sources within the command’s headquarters, the suspect was arrested after investigations, following a report by the victim’s brother to the police about his disappearance. Haruna Abubakar and the sack containing Haruna Abubakar’s chopped remains.

Vanguard gathered that the suspect and victim are co-workers in a farm in Ibeju Lekki area of the state, where the suspect worked as a security guard while the victim worked as a herdsman.

The spokesperson for the police in the state, SP Dolapo Badmus, confirmed the incident, yesterday. According to Badmus, “On December 3, the suspect had an altercation with the victim, who is about 27 years old. It resulted into a fight and in the process, the suspect killed the deceased with a dagger. “Abubakar cut him into pieces, packed him in a sack and dumped him in the bush.

The brother to the deceased, one Adamu, reported the case of a missing person to the police after his brother failed to return home after the day’s work.

“The clues gathered by the police led to the arrest of the suspect, who later confessed to the crime and led the operatives to where the dismembered body was recovered. The Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Panti, for further investigation and prosecution.”
