Ghana Police confirms Interpol’s arrest warrant for Samuel Adam Mahama

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed Interpol’s arrest warrant for Samuel Adam Fosters aka Samuel Adam Mahama.

News went rife that, the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) has issued an arrest warrant for aka Samuel Adam Mahama in connection with his role in the Airbus bribery scandal.

Samuel Adam Mahama is being charged for accepting bribes to influence a public officer and acting in collaboration with a public officer for the public officers’ private gain.

According to Interpol, for the offence he is liable to a term of imprisonment not exceeding of 25 years.

The arrest warrant which was issued on July 10, said once Mr Adam Mahama is traced, “assurances are given that an extradition will be sought upon arrest of the person, in conformity with national laws and/or the applicable bilateral and multilateral treaties.”

Right after the news went viral, Ghanaians including the Communications Officer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi described the arrest warrant as dubious after making checks on Interpol’s official website.

Due to that, the Ghana Police has in a social media post confirmed Interpol’s arrest warrant for Samuel Adam Mahama.

In the press release, they stated that the suspects (Samuel Adam Mahama, Philip Sean Middlemiss, Leanne Sarah Davis and Sarah Furneaux) in connection with the Airbus bribery scandal being handled by the office of the special prosecutor have been published on Interpol Red Notice.
