‘You can’t bring me down’ – Asamoah Gyan reacts as Ghanaians remind him of 2010 penalty loss

General Captain of Ghana Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan, alias Baby Jet, has reacted to the Ghanaian community’s remembrance of his penalty loss in 2010.

Asamoah Gyan is currently trending on social media as Ghanaians reminded him of his his costly penalty miss against Uruguay during the quarter-final of the 2010 World Cup which was played at the Soccer City Stadium in South Africa exactly ten years today.

For many who missed the heartbreaking event in 2010, the Black Stars striker, who is again Ghana’s all-time top scorer missed a penalty after Luiz Suarez blocked a goal in the dying minute of extra time, a chance which could have seen Ghana qualify to the semi-final stage of the tournament.

It is for this reason that Ghanaians have decided to celebrate the 34-year-old striker’s loss on social media.

This has also caused the striker to react to the trend and series of tweets on the platform with two powerful messages to Ghanaians as he posited that they only celebrate failures and not a person’s achievements.

He added that Ghanaians can never bring him down because to do so will mean you have to reach him first which is impossible. He went on to say that his family is very proud of his achievements and that is the only thing that matters to him in life.

He wrote; “We celebrate failure more than achievements. Me di333 I dey my corner dey enjoy myself. My family is very proud me. That’s what matters to me the most”

TO BRING ME DOWN, YOU HAVE TO REACH ME FIRST“, he added
