Rex Omar wins GHS200,000 court case against Joy Industries

A High Court in Koforidua has charged a Ghanaian owned company Joy Industries for the unlawful usage of legendary musician Rex Omar’s intellectual property without his permission.

According to reports, Joy Industries was fined GHc200,000 as damages for using Rex Omar’s song for their gains without his permission.

It is reported that his charge by the High Court has been pending for the past 5 years.

In November, Rex Omar secured an interlocutory injunction restraining Joy Industries Limited from using his works.

The court further ordered that directors, officers, agents and servants of Joy Dadi Bitters should stop any electronic media from playing the commercial immediately, pending the final determination of the case.
