Prez. Nana Akufo-Addo Deserves Praise For Covid-19 Reliefs

Governments across the globe are fighting the Novel Coronavirus pandemic with all their might for better economic fortunes because most citizens have lost their sources of livelihood since the virus started its “worldwide” invasion. In Ghana, management of the virus has become a vital campaign message just like the Americans used it as a yardstick to choose their preferred Presidential Candidate in the just-ended November polls.

The Director of Political Affairs at the Office of the Chief of Staff, Frank Asiedu Bekoe has praised President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the varied interventions and relief packages the government provided Ghanaians during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Akufo-Addo-led government, has for some months, subsidized electricity bills and sanctioned the free use of water, paid an extra 50% basic salary for frontline health workers among other stuff as an incentive to Ghanaians.

In the face of all these, Mr. Frank Asiedu Bekoe says the government’s absorption of water and electricity bills was a huge relief to Ghanaians as the pandemic affected a number of businesses.

In his words, he opined;

“I find it to be very apt that this theme was chosen considering where our nation seeks to be in the short to medium term. This year has been very challenging. The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic has changed all aspects of our lives not only in Ghana, but globally.

“You will all agree with me that the continuation of government business can be attributed to selflessness and the commitment of our farmers who have discharged their duties amidst the difficulties posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Our dear farmers too should be given recognition for discharging their duties efficiently to satisfy the Ghanaian people during these difficult times”, he said.

“As part of the executive arm of government, all metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies have a mandatory role to formulate and implement sustainable agric-related policies for the socio-economic development of their various assemblies.

“It is therefore important for the municipalities to engage with other public and private sector entities to identify potential areas of collaboration for national agricultural development plans to be sustained”, Mr. Asiedu Bekoe stated.
