Police arrest COVID-19 patients while drinking at bar after escaping from quarantine center

Kenyan police have arrested two coronavirus patients who escaped from a quarantine center in the country.

They were arrested while drinking heavily at a bar despite social distancing regulations

They were among dozens of people filmed jumping over a wall of the facility in the capital, Nairobi, drawing public condemnation.

They indicated that they had planned the escape because they were not getting tested for the virus.

The duo, who are now awaiting charges, had complained that they couldn’t afford to pay for their confinement out of their own pockets.

This costs between $20 (£16) and $100 a night – depending on the centre.
