Midwives and nurses begin nationwide strike today

 A press release statement by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association notes that;

“having reconvened in the meetings held on 15th and 16th September 2020 the posture of the Employer changed for the better but did not meet the expectation of the majority of Nurses, Midwives, Physician Assistants and Certified Registered Anaesthetists in Ghana.”

Professional nurses and midwives have embarked on a nationwide strike beginning today, 21st September 2020 and are to resume after their outstanding issues with the government have been resolved.

This move was influenced by the government’s failure to agree with the health workers on their demand for improved conditions of service

Meanwhile, at the Accra High Court last Friday, Justice Frank Aboagye Rockson ordered the health workers to stop the strike action.
