Nigerian Gov’t Speaks after the Lekki Massacre, Says Its Forces Beyond Their Control

The Nigerian government has issued a statement through the Lagos State in connection with the massacre of unarmed civilians in Lekki.

The governor of the state Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said surprisingly said the killings were carried out by forces beyond their control yesterday.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu said in the statement that“This is the toughest night of our lives as forces beyond our direct control have moved to make dark notes in our history, but we will face it and come out stronger. I’ve just concluded visits to hospitals with victims of this unfortunate shooting incident at Lekki,”

The Nigerian who is said to be the perpetrators of the massacre have also denied involvement. The Army said none of its members were involved.

The ongoing protests in the country to end police brutality turned bad. Soldiers opened fire killing and injuring many at the toll gate in Lekki.

The International community have also condemned the act, calling on the government to stop the killings.
