Nigerian coronavirus patient who escaped from quarantine arrested

The Nigerian national who escaped from self-isolation after testing positive for coronavirus in Wapaani residence in the Upper West Region has been arrested.

A report on Kasapafmonline.com says it is not immediately known where Simon Okafor Chukudi was picked up as the media is yet to be briefed on the issue.

The Regional Minister, Police Commander and Health Officials had all gathered at the Regional Hospital where the patient is to be quarantined.

Gossips24.com yesterday reported that a Nigerian who tested positive for the novel coronavirus escaped from where he was isolated.

Upper West Regional Police Commander DCOP Francis Aboagye Nyarko said the Nigerian who was supposed to be transported to the regional isolation centre by health authorities, disappeared from his residence at Wapaani, a suburb of Wa, shortly after receiving information that he had tested positive.

The 46-year-old Nigerian, was part of 5 persons who came from abroad into the region.
