A Kenyan man has written a letter of demand to his church requesting a refund of offering from 1997 to 2018.
According to the man, Mr Dishon Kinyanjui Kinuthia, in the letter headed “REFUND OF OFFERING CONTRIBUTED FROM 1998 TO 2017”, he wants the church to pay him an amount of 58,000KES (Kenyan shilling) which is equivalent to 3,123ghc.
On 30th October, 2020, Mr Dishon made it known to the church that his contributions were not voluntary since the pastor had made it known during a sermon that anyone who does not give offering will go to hell.
He explained that the sermon has made him come to the realization that he gave the offering out of duress, influence and intimidation, therefore he demands a refund.
Mr Dishon asked his church to deposit the amount into his bank account which was attached to the letter by 31st November 2020.
He further threatened to sue the Revival Mission Church if it should fail to pay the stipulated amount on time.
