Mafi-Agoe Murder Case: Suspect Remanded Into Prison Custody

A Fulani herdsman, Idriss Bukari, lead suspect in the murder of a woman at Mafi-Agoe has been remanded into police custody by a District Court in Adidome, presided over by Mr. Augustine Essah. 

The suspect, who is believed to be in his late 20s, has been provisionally charged with murder and is set to reappear before the court on 16th of November, 2020.

He was arrested for allegedly killing a 50-year-old grocery seller, one Madam Patience at Mafi Agoe, a farming community in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region on the 14th of October, 2020.

In narrating the incidents,  the Volta Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Corporal Prince Dogbatse, told the Ghana News Agency that, the suspect, believed to be a customer of the victim, allegedly entered her room secretly to commit the act.

Mr. William Adzigo, an in-law of the deceased, indicated that the grand-daughter of the victim raised an alarm, when she spotted the suspect committing the crime. This woke him and other neighbours of the victims up.

Mr. Adzigo further pointed that, upon reaching the door of the victim, they saw that it was locked, so they forced it open. Unfortunately, the suspect attacked the first person who entered the room, inflecting a deep machete wound in his head.

Mr. Dogbatse indicated that, Police reinforcement was sent to the scene, who managed to subdue and arrest the suspect. He further pointed out that, though the other victim who sustained machete wounds in the head is responding to treatment, Madam  patience died on the way to the hospital.
